the vashon ferry.

You can reach Vashon Island by taking the Fauntleroy ferry from West Seattle or the Tahlequah ferry from Tacoma.

Ferries depart every 20 minutes to one hour, but sometimes they can be unpredictable. We suggest you to allow for extra time!

Ferry line wait times are similar to highway traffic: if you head up on Friday afternoon at 5pm, bring a book & prepare for a wait in the ferry line. If you are able, I recommend planning for an earlier ferry to avoid this!

If you miss a ferry or know you have some extra time on the West Seattle side, I recommend The Birdhouse for a coffee.
